Darts, Pool and Ping Pong competitions will be played throughout the evening with prizes to be won for those who dare! There will also be some special guest beers making an appearance for you to try and buy. There is a sign-up list in the clubhouse to help gauge numbers, but you pay on the night. Any questions, contact Linda Searles on 07973 834797.
All welcome. Come along for an evening of fun with friends!
Autumn Tournament
Matches are already underway, but if you haven’t yet seen the draw for our Autumn Tournament please do, by either checking the club noticeboard or looking on-line, as the deadline for some rounds is tight.

Junior Autumn Tournament
Following the successful summer championships there will now be a Junior Autumn Championships following along similar lines. Finals Day will be on the same day as the adult finals on Saturday 14th October, so please don’t enter unless you are available that day. See John’s previous Coaching and Competitions e-mail for details.
Floodlight booking sheets and tokens
As the evenings draw in and the Autumn Tournament gets underway, some members have asked about booking sheets for the floodlights. These will re-commence from Saturday 2nd September. We have 5 courts with floodlights, although Court 1 cannot be activated by tokens at the moment. The sheets will be kept in a folder in the shed next to court 8. Please write your name against the date, court and period you wish to play, rather than booking the whole evening.
In the next few weeks, we are hoping to launch an on-line booking system, so look out for further details We are also soon intending to install coin boxes directly on the floodlight operating boxes so that access to the clubhouse is not required. In the meantime, please use the token box, but remember, it only accepts the old-style pound coins.

Our summer season is almost at an end. The mid-week Middlesex matches are complete, so here is a summary of how our teams performed.

Men’s Middlesex 2s – 7th in Div 1

Men’s Middlesex 4s – 4th in Div 8 (5 points off promotion)
Men’s Middlesex 5s – 4th in Div 11
Women’s teams – 30 players participated
Ladies Middlesex 1s – 2nd in Div 1
Ladies Middlesex 2s – 8th in Div 4
Ladies Middlesex 3s – 3rd in Div 7
Many thanks, as always, to those who took part, those who captained teams and to our Club Captains, Danny Williamson and Su Pryor, for all their hard work.
3 Peaks Challenge
A message of thanks…
Once again club members have been very generous in supporting us. We raised £2406.25 in total (including gift aid). Muskaan UK are very grateful and this will go towards their education programmes for young people in India and East Africa. Phil and I completed the challenge in 25 hours 30 minutes in glorious sunshine and views from Scafell Pike and Snowdon. This was a delight since Ben Nevis had greeted us with strong winds and heavy rain.
Many thanks for your kind support. Nick Madejczyk and Phil Ridout
Woumars
Our scoring posts (correct name Woumar scorers) are often admired by visiting teams. Unfortunately, the yellow and red plastic game and set markers get broken, particularly when players use their rackets, rather than their hands, to clear the score. Bob Price and Martin Dawson will tell you how fiddly they are to replace! Please help to keep them happy by treating them gently….
David Tomlinson
You will have received an email regarding the sad news that our previous Chairman, David Tomlinson, died peacefully at home on Thursday 24th August. Our thoughts are with Yvonne, his wife, and his sons Paul and Michael.
