In Vogue

A few members were surprised to see a film crew arrive at the club a few weeks ago. Our courts were used by British Vogue for a tennis fashion promotion. Here is a link to their feature, with voice over by none other than Boris Becker. Sadly he didn’t make an appearance!

Club Finals Day

Our own Finals Day takes place on Saturday 18th July. This is the culmination of several weeks of competition, so please come along and support our finalists. Matches will commence from 12pm. If you are talented enough to have got through to a final, order of play will go out once all semi-finals have been played, which is often only the evening before!

The bar will be open all afternoon and as well as the usual beverages there will be some tasty fruit punch on offer (with just a touch of alcohol!) to quench your thirst.

As usual there will be a buffet throughout the day and members are asked to bring along a dish, savoury or sweet, to contribute.

To help the day run smoothly we also need volunteers. Firstly, if you could help behind the bar, just for an hour or two, there will be a rota going up shortly in the clubhouse. Secondly, it really makes the day feel more special if as many finals as possible are umpired. If you are willing to cover one of the matches, please get in touch with John or Doug.

Here’s hoping for good weather to complement some great tennis!

Junior Tournaments

Our juniors have their own Club Tournament which takes place from Tuesday July 21st with Finals Day on Saturday 25th July. Please come along and support our budding champs.

There is also an Open Junior Tournament, sponsored once again by Lofty Lofts, being held throughout the following week with the finals on Saturday August 1st.

Please note that court availability may be limited during these periods.

For more details on either of these or information about summer camps, please see John’s recent coaching newsletter or visit the coaching page on our club website

Ladies and Men’s Nights

For those who have not yet made it along to one of our coach led sessions, please note there are only two weeks remaining! Ladies Night takes place on Tuesdays, Men’s Night on Wednesdays, both starting at 6.30pm. If you have been meaning to give it a try, please come along. There is no need to book. It’s a great opportunity to meet other players and take part in drills and matchplay put together by our coaching team.

Sunday Club Afternoon

Club afternoon continues to take place every Sunday afternoon from 3pm to 5pm, supervised by one of our coaching team. Please note, the sessions will continue throughout the summer but during August the coaches will be taking a break so the peg board system will come into play. There have been a small but regular group of members attending, but it would be great to see a few more faces.

Improvements to Clubhouse

If you have recently been to the club, you may have noticed that we have had a new window installed, improving the look from the outside, but also the view from the inside. This is part of our ongoing improvement plan. The next project will involve bringing our toilet and changing facilities up to standard.

Please note…

On Saturday 11th July, there is a party being held at the club for approximately 70 adults and children. This will start at 5-30pm and carry on into the evening. Members will still be able to play tennis and use the facilities but please be aware there are likely to be activities such as football and table tennis going on outside.

On the next day (Sunday 12th) please also note that the Ladies Hot Rackets match will be starting at 11.30am. This will require 2 courts, so with adult coaching taking place on the Claytex, court availability will be limited around that time.

Wimbledon

There have already been some amazing matches in this year’s Wimbledon Tournament.

For those who were lucky enough to get tickets in our club ballot or the public draw, we hope you are enjoying your experience.
