 Ladies and Men’s Nights

Our club sessions have almost come to an end, with the final Men’s Night taking place this Wednesday. We hope that those who have attended have found them useful. From next week, members are still welcome to come along and play in. This will continue throughout the summer until floodlights are once again required. Ladies will continue to have priority on Tuesdays and Men on Wednesdays.

Club Finals Day

Our own Finals Day takes place on Saturday 8th July. This is the culmination of several weeks of competition, so please come along and support our finalists, both adult and junior. If you are talented enough to have got through to a final, order of play will go out once all semi-finals have been played (which is often only the evening before!). Adult finals will commence from 11.45am on the astro courts, which will need to be cleared for preparation by 11.15am. Junior finals will be from 2pm and take place on the claytex courts.

The bar will be open all afternoon to help you quench your thirst.

Our fantastic in-house chef, Mike Searles, will be running a barbecue from 4pm, but members are invited to bring a dish to help keep players and spectators nourished during the day.

We have a record 18 finals (counting adults and juniors) to get through on Finals Day. It would be great to have umpires for as many as possible, although not all can have umpires as we haven’t got enough umpire’s chairs for all 4 courts. If you can help please contact our Doug (our official Director of Umpires) - Phone: 07595 763690; E-Mail: douglas.morley14@gmail.com

Here’s hoping for good weather to complement some great tennis!

Junior Summer Camps

If you are looking for some fun for your children during the school summer holidays, then our coaches are running summer camps throughout and are now available to book. There are camps for mini tennis red and orange 5-9 years, and older juniors playing in full court. The camps are great value and fun, with a mixture of technique, tactics and matchplay appropriate to each age and ability. You can book for a full week or pick and choose and number of days to suit. Three Peaks Challenge

Here is a request from one of our members, Nick Madejczyk.

Folks,

I know everyone gets a lot of charity requests but I thought I'd do the “don't ask don't get” thing!

3 friends and I are doing the 3 peaks in 3 countries in 24 hours challenge. That is; Ben Nevis (1,345m) in Scotland, Scafell Pike (978m) in England and Snowdon (1085m) in Wales. Three countries in 24 hours! The scheduled dates are 16th to 17th July.

After months of training we decided to raise money for a charity that an old college friend helped to set up and run.  It is called Muskaan UK and they run several projects in India and East Africa for disadvantaged young people.  They provide clean water, education and support for the homeless.

So, if can spare a few pounds (no amount is too small), please donate via:

Best wishes,

Nick Madejczyk and Phil Ridout
